Townhomes are the backbone of Milton's housing. Almost every neighbourhood built since 2000 has rows of them, and for a lot of buyers they are the first step into owning a house in Halton without a condo board.
The listings above include freehold townhomes, condo townhomes and three-storey rear-lane towns. They can look similar online but live very differently, so here is what I would want you to know.

A freehold townhome means you own the house and the lot outright with no monthly fee. A condo townhome means the corporation owns and maintains parts of the exterior and grounds, and you pay a monthly fee. Some newer Milton towns are freehold but sit on a common element condo road or laneway, which carries a smaller monthly fee for snow clearing and road upkeep. I always confirm which one a listing is before you fall in love with it.
The classic Milton town is a two-storey with a single built-in garage and a backyard. Harrison and other newer areas also have three-storey towns with garages off a rear laneway and a smaller yard or a balcony instead. Three-storey towns give you more square footage for the price, but a lot of stairs, and the main living floor is often one level up. Families with toddlers and buyers planning to age in place usually prefer two storeys.
End units, a finished basement, a walkout or a second parking space usually add value, and a backing onto a park or open space helps too. Interior units on busy roads trade lower. When I prepare an offer I compare the same model in the same phase, because that is what an appraiser will do.

Free home evaluationMany are, but not all. Milton has freehold towns, condo towns and freehold towns on a common element road with a small monthly fee. The listing should say which, and I confirm it from the title and documents before you offer.
The newer surveys do: Harrison, Scott, Willmott, Beaty, Clarke, Coates and the Boyne Survey neighbourhoods south of Louis St. Laurent Avenue all have a lot of townhome stock. Timberlea and Old Milton have very few.
Ontario rules now allow additional units in many houses, but a townhome still has to meet the Town of Milton's zoning, parking and building code requirements, including fire separation and egress. Check with the Town before you count on rental income.
Townhomes have broad demand in Milton because they are the entry point to owning a house here, which tends to help resale. As with anything, the specific location, layout and condition matter more than the type.
